The history of Thai massage

The Thai massage is a branch of the Thai traditional medicine. Latter is now regulated by the government. Moreover, Thai massage is practiced by non-medical professionals in the SPA and tourism industry.

During the 90s in Western Europe and the US there was number of Thai massage practitioners and teachers who were mostly Thailand-trained Westerners. Being trained in short term courses, their knowledge turned to be superficial and insufficient to represent the depth and importance of this tradition innate in its ancient culture.

Thai-massage affects both the physics and the psychics. It relieves symptoms of asthma, migraine, light depression, restores sleep and flexibility of joints. Harmonizes body and mind, removes the body blockage and a spiritual energy. It helps the body strengthen, increases energy and stabilizes psychics.

In 1955 Ministry of Education of Thailand the determined 4 main courses on traditional medicine: Thai massage, Thai midwives and nurses, Thai pharmacy and Thai-Thai medical practice.

Thousands of students from the country and around the world made specialised Thai massage schools. Most of them now work in massage, SPA and wellness centres in many countries.
